Peanut Butter and Jelly
The purpose of this game is to help kids recognize voice tone, speed and volume. Ultimately, it is also to help them understand the best way to talk to your dog (which can be paralled to the best way to talk to other people).
Step 1: Practice
Say “peanut butter” and have child say “jelly” in just the same way. Repeat five to ten times varying loudness and intonation. You can do this individually or as a group.
Step 2: Application to Dog
Say "now we're going to practice the best way to talk to Fido". This time I'm going to say a word (e.g., "sit") and you will say the SAME word". Start out be saying the word sit/down/stay/come/etc in ways that are not appropriate for your dog (e.g., angry, too soft, not authoritative enough) then ask the kids how they feel about that way of giving the command. Finish with saying the command in the best way for your dog and having the children practice saying it back. Then you can have them practice giving the command to your dog.
